Tenerife: City Hotels and Accommodation
The highest concentration of hotels can be found in the island's capital city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which is situated approximately 60 km / 37 miles to the north of Tenerife South Reina Sofia Airport (TFS). Available accommodation is generally easy to find in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and throughout the northern side of the island, although the southern resorts can be extremely busy, with hotels regularly fully booked. Those wishing to stay in the southern areas around the Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos and the Costa Adeje should be sure to reserve their accommodation before arriving.
Many hotels can be found in Puerto de la Cruz, on the northern side of Tenerife. A bustling port town with many traditional seaside attractions, hotels in Puerto de la Cruz are always close to a host of restaurants, the beachfront promenade and a number of attractions, such as the Archaeological Museum and the acclaimed Loro Parque.
Other types of accommodation around Tenerife include many holiday villas, rural houses (casas rurales), holiday villas, bungalows and self-catering apartments. A selection of budget lodging is also available around the island, with both the Pensión Casablanca and the Pensión Nova being located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, although these can soon fill up during the February Carnaval.
